ACME adds five new firms from Gran Canaria Moda Cálida

Gran Canaria Moda Cálida and the Asociación Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) renewed at a meeting in Madrid, held within the framework of Madrid es Moda, the participants of the advisory program that both institutions have been offering since 2018 within their collaboration agreement. An stablished alliance to promote the development of the island’s fashion sector through different activations.

The meeting, held at the Association’s headquarters in the capital city’s Barrio de Las Letras, was attended by Minerva Alonso, Economic Development Councilor of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Modesto Lomba and Pepa Bueno, president and executive director of ACME respectively, as well as a representation of the designers.

Hence, Mare Far Niente, Chacho Souvenirs, Mommy Loves, Volcano Blood and Daria Bae join Pedro Palmas, Ogadenia Couture and Elena Morales, brands that previously joined this project, where the eight companies from the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida programme to receive ACME’s professional services. Having the structure to market their products outside the Canary Islands, together with the conclusions of a report prepared by the Association was the main criteria that determined the selection.

“The Cabildo continues with its constant support to Gran Canaria’s fashion companies. In this case, by adding five more to the Asociación Creadores Moda España, which not only means for them enjoying the advice of the only Association present in the entirety of Spain’s fashion sector, but it also implies giving visibility to swimwear, as the five new firms design swimwear. This is what characterises us and is a part of our identity; therefore it is one more channel to promote the Island’s swimwear on the Peninsula”, comments Minerva Alonso.

“It is an honour to continue supporting Gran Canaria Moda Cálida in this ambitious and committed project. It is very enriching to be able to help these brands built with so much passion, all of them defenders of craftsmanship, traditions, and the values ​​of slow fashion,” highlights Modesto Lomba.

“Gran Canaria Moda Cálida has established itself as the most important platform for supporting swimwear designers in Spain. Being able to guide these firms towards their growth goals is a responsibility that we assume with both pride and enthusiasm,” adds Pepa Bueno.

Gran Canaria Moda Cálida and ACME have been working together for seven years on multiple actions and initiatives to strengthen the island’s fashion industry. A strategy where education and counselling are the means to ensure not only the sector’s future objectives but also those of the Canarian textile traditions and professions.
