Marcos Luengo, Malne and Gran Canaria Moda Cálida join ACME

03/05/2018

Malne, the luxury couture and prêt-á-porter brand made up by Juanjo Mánez and Paloma Álvarez, and Asturian designer Marcos Luengo, become new members of ACME. With the arrival of these new brands, the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España demonstrates a clear intent to grow representing the sector, currently gathering under its initials 68 associates, among which are leading Spanish fashion design companies.

The Association also adds Gran Canaria Moda Cálida as the first collaborating institution, a figure created with the aim of developing collaborative activities and organizing different initiatives to promote fashion. Gran Canaria Moda Cálida is an action program in the textile sector created by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria. Thanks to this agreement, ACME will advise the companies in this program regarding their local and global projection and will help them in making decisions that reinforce the fashion made on the Canary island.

As for the new associates, Juanjo Mánez and Paloma Álvarez founded luxury fashion label Malne in 2015. Both are professionals with an established career in the sector who decided to create their own brand after passing through important Spanish fashion brands in which they have worked as designers and creative directors.

Malne moves away from the concept of industrialized fashion and develop their collections entirely in their atelier in Madrid, basing their business model on the idea of a classic couture atelier in which exclusive pieces are created with an artisan approach. After a first fashion show in Qatar, the label joins in September 2016 the official schedule of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, a runway where they present their collections each season. In addition to Spain, the firm sells its collections in boutiques in Qatar, Singapore, Shanghai, Kuwait and Atlanta and enjoy private clients in different countries around the world.

Marcos Luengo began his career in the fashion world in 2001 with the presentation of his first handbag and accessories collections. Trained in psychology, and after a long period dedicated to teaching, the designer from Asturias launches into the design sector specializing in napa, which has become one of the hallmarks of his work.

In 2007, Marcos Luengo opened his first store in Oviedo, launching a new stage in his firm with the addition of a bespoke design line. In 2015 he opens an atelier in barrio Salamanca, Madrid and two years later he also opens a store in iconic calle Jorge Juan alley coinciding with his incorporation in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid fashion schedule.[:]
