Fashion designer Mariano Moreno participated in the Sant Jordi celebrations at Casa Batlló with a creation made especially for the occasion, presented on April 23rd during a live performance on the building’s terrace by artist Audrey.
The singer wore a dress embroidered with the façade of Casa Batlló and a cape made with more than 500 roses. The piece is partly a tribute to Antoni Gaudí in the centenary year of his demise, coinciding with one of Barcelona’s cultural calendar most notable dates.
Mariano Moreno’s design takes as a starting point the architecture of Casa Batlló as well as the image of its façade covered in roses during Sant Jordi. The embroidery translates the building’s lines onto the dress, while the cape incorporates the rose as the design’s main element.
Throughout the week, the piece has been on display in a window case in Casa Batlló, one of the city’s most visited sites and one of Gaudí’s most iconic works.
