07/02/2024

This morning, the Caleido Shopping Center hosted the presentation of the next edition of Madrid Fashion Week, which begins on Monday, February 12th with Madrid es Moda  and continues until the 15th with the 79th edition of MBFWM. During the presentation, the programming and news of both fashion events were revealed to the media.

The press conference included the participation of Modesto Lomba, president of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME); Juan Arrizabalaga, general director of IFEMA MADRID; and Engracia Hidalgo, delegate of the Government Area of Economy, Innovation and Finance of Madrid City Council, who wanted to highlight that “Madrid es Moda and MBFWM are two highly anticipated events that govern the fashion calendar. From Madrid City Council we promote all those events related to fashion that take place in our city and give life to our neighbourhoods, because our objective is to reinforce and give visibility to those activities that boost our economy and project Madrid as a reference for creativity and talent”, after being welcomed by Beatriz Martín, director of CC Caleido.

The presentation also enjoyed the assistance of Óscar Romera, general coordinator of Economy, Commerce and Consumption, and Concha Díaz de Villegas, general director of Commerce, Hospitality and Consumption of the Government Area of Economy, Innovation and Finance of Madrid City Council. A large number of fashion designers and brands did not miss the presentation, such as Acromatyx, Daniel Chong, Devota & Lomba, Félix Ramiro, Fely Campo, García Madrid, Guillermo Décimo, Evade House, Isabel Núñez, Javier Delafuente, Luis Berrendero, Maison Mesa, Malne, Mans, Marcos Luengo, María Lafuente, Odette Álvarez, Pablo Erroz, Paloma Suárez, The Extreme Collection, Sergio de Lázaro, creative director of Otrura and Berhanyer, and Nacho Aguayo and Alex Miralles, creative directors of Pedro del Hierro.

Modesto Lomba, president of ACME, began his speech by recognizing the unconditional support that Madrid City Council offers to Spanish fashion and thanking the designers for their participation in both platforms, which are the main architects of having converted Madrid Fashion Week into the most relevant and representative fashion event in Spain. Regarding the forthcoming edition of Madrid es Moda, he highlighted that “the motto of this edition is Trades: The invisible art of fashion, because we believe that it is very relevant at this time to give visibility to the high trades that make it possible to materialize our creations and bring them closer, both to young people who aspire to dedicate themselves to this industry, and to consumers, so that they know that each designer’s garment is much more than just a sketch.”

Madrid es Moda is an initiative organized by the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) with the support of Madrid City Council, through the Madrid Fashion Capital program, which opens Madrid Fashion Week from February 12th to 14th. Three days dedicated to Spanish designer fashion in which 28 designers will present their unedited, resee and ongoing collections using theaters, hotels, art galleries, ateliers, “plazas” and Madrid’s representative spaces as catwalks, such as the Ateneo de Madrid or the Serrería Belga Cultural Space, of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Area of the Madrid City Council.
