The first edition of Spanish Arab Fashion was held at Santiago Bernabéu stadium with the presence of Spanish designers Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and Francis Montesinos, who showed their fashion alongside Arab creators Omaima Azzouz, Maria Luxe, De Velasco by Sana Redwani, Tazi Nezha and Hany Elbehairy, in a runway born with the spirit of uniting cultures encouraging coexistence among them.
The majestic fabrics and hand made embroidery of the Arab designs shared the spotlight with the looks chosen by the Valencian creator Francis Montesinos, Aguja de Oro in 1985 and the Gold Medal for Merit of the Fine Arts of 2006, inspired by folklore and his Mediterranean roots, and the unmistakable proposals made up of strong colours, contrasts and fun shapes by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, one of the most internationally recognized Spanish designers and National Fashion Design Award in 2017.
The main objective of the Spanish Arab Fashion, which has brought together Arab authorities, Princes of the Middle East and prominent personalities of Spanish culture, is "to highlight the vision of unity among cultures and to originate a dialogue where understanding flows through gastronomy, fashion and craftsmanship ", explains the President of the Association Between Cultures Madrid and creator of the event, Soumaya Akbib.
