Bajo La Calima, CHACHO SVNRS

The CHACHO SVNRS brand, under the creative direction of Francisco Casillas, presented Ayerbu, the 2027 collection at Gran Canaria Swim Week. The collection imagines a future Canary Islands marked by the constant presence of the calima (Saharan dust) and transforms this everyday phenomenon into the starting point as a reflection on identity, territory, and transformation.

The collection places Saharan dust at the heart of the narrative. Calima ceases to be understood solely as a meteorological condition, becoming instead a cultural and visual atmosphere that modifies the way the islands are inhabited. From this idea, CHACHO SVNRS continues to explore its unique interpretation of the Canarian imaginary, where popular symbols and local references acquire new meanings.

The collection combines swimwear and streetwear codes through transparencies, technical layers, utilitarian silhouettes, and altered pieces that respond to an extreme environment. The brand’s most recognizable designs reappear transformed, as if eroded by time and covered by the suspended sand itself. In this scenario, island identity emerges as a living, evolving element. Graphics blur, references shift, and the Canarian souvenir projects itself toward a future imaginary where memory coexists with adaptation. The collection thus constructs an aesthetic imbued with both resistance and change.

Aɣerbu views the Canary Islands through a cloud of dust, finding in it a new way of narrating the territory.
