Daniel Chong has received one of the Rainbow Awards granted by the Ministry of Equality, through the Directorate General for Sexual Diversity and LGBTQ+ Rights, as part of the LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations.
The award acknowledges the brand’s work in promoting the LGBTQ+ community’s visibility, and particularly the inclusion of trans women in its fashion shows. In recent years, Daniel Chong has developed various initiatives related to a more diverse representation in fashion, including his collaboration with the December 26 Foundation, an organization through which he has included trans women in presentations held at events such as Madrid es Moda.
During the award ceremony, the designer dedicated said recognition to the people who have been part of this journey and, especially, to the trans women who have participated in his fashion shows.
“This recognition isn’t just about me, but about everyone who has made this journey possible. Especially the trans women who have trusted us and who, with their courage, have helped break down barriers in the fashion industry. They are a fundamental part of this award,” mentioned Daniel Chong.
In his remarks, the designer also emphasized the importance of continuing to defend the rights that have been won and to continue working against the hate speech and discrimination that still affects the LGBTQ+ community.
Daniel Chong is a Spanish fashion and accessories brand focused on contemporary design, local production, and sustainability. Since its creation, the brand has worked with craftsmanship, innovation, and respect for people as part of its daily operations.
