Penultimate day of fashion shows of Madrid fashion week

10/02/2015

Ángel Schlesser presented a collection of urban and contemporary looks at MBFWM. Straight lines and sleek silhouettes are the basis for a proposal that highlights military-inspired double button coats, straight trousers, asymmetrical dresses and A-line skirts. Simplicity in form, interrupted by lamé fringes, flower appliques and Afghan lamb fur, break the uniformity of his proposals.  Grey, navy and natural tones colour the daytime by Schlesser, who opts for bright colours like yellow and berry in his evening gowns.

Amaya Arzuaga presented a collection in which the cape is the absolute protagonist. Laser cuts in technological materials like neoprene mesh contrast with the craftsmanship of traditional fabrics like wool, which sometimes appears padded, in addition to cashmere and flannel.  Flared volumes are key to the collection for next winter by the designer from Burgos, who committed to layers, volumes along the back and midi length in her designs, which are tinted in garnet, sapphire, vanilla, black and green.

Doppelgänger is the German word that defines the double of a living person, a dual face.  Ana Locking chooses this term as the title for a collection where nothing is what it seems.  Imagining being “another me” is a constant in Locking’s designs.  Elements in this collection included synthetic hair playing at being a fox, false pleats, prints simulating chipboard and false metallic leather.  Antonioni’s films were an inspiration for the designer, who focuses on strict silhouettes, midi lengths and an absence of cleavage to seduce with openings in the skirts and touches of lingerie.

Devota & Lomba presented his collection for next winter as well as the pieces he created for The Extreme Collection line.  Black, combined with camel, natural tones and grassy green form the basis of the brand’s designs, which draw inspiration from nature.  Knee-length bodysuits and Bermuda shorts become the star pieces of his proposals.  Large bibs bring a touch of innocence to Modesto Lomba’s creations. Impeccable jackets stand out among the designs he created for the brand The Extreme Collection.

Juanjo Oliva was inspired by New York, the place where the Madrid designer announced that he will soon show his proposals.  The city of skyscrapers is the starting point of a collection with hints of the seventies that shines of its own accord.  Glitter sparkles and lamé are the protagonists of his looks for next winter.  The designer focused on the evening gown and the bodysuit as essential items.  Ample necklines provide the sensual touch to designs that are showcased in many prints and a wide range of colours, contrasting with the pure white proposals that closed his fashion show.
