Comebacks and debuts on the first day of MBFWM

24/01/2018

The official schedule of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid takes off outside the facilities of IFEMA and carries the presentation of the designer’s collections to unique places in the city. In this first day of Madrid Fashion Week the proposals of Oteyza, Pilar Dalbat, Duarte and Pedro del Hierro have been showcased.

OTEYZA debuts during fashion week with a unique performance in DIMAD, within the facilities of Matadero Madrid. The brand, specializing in tailoring, stages the process of creating an iconic garment such as the cape, a piece that has raised them as pennants of the rebirth of classic Spanish tailoring as well as staunch defenders of the recovery of black merino wool, and this is why the presentation of their collection had a very special audience: a flock of sheep belonging to this Spanish autochthonous breed.

The clients and women who have inspired her throughout her career became the protagonists of PILAR DALBAT’s presentation. Her collection, entitled “La Brecha (The Gap)”, takes its name from the work of José Guerrero, a Granada artist. The oversized silhouettes and the use of blue become the constant of a proposal made up by twenty looks composed of deconstructed pieces and joined together by a spinning technique, embroidered methacrylate applications in different shades and sketched gaps.

DUARTE presents “Purple Heart”, a dynamic and magnetic proposal inspired by the work of British artist Francis Bacon. The label chooses a location in the Rastro de Madrid to introduce its public to an industrial and colourful aesthetic, a wager that links perfectly with the fall-winter 2018/2019 collection. Duarte shows his more feminine side incorporating oversize masculine garments to the woman’s wardrobe. The label, faithful to tailoring, innovates with silhouettes and an extended colour palette.

PEDRO DEL HIERRO returns to Madrid Fashion Week with a spectacular fashion show at the Railway Museum. The brand’s proposal blends tradition and innovation, recovering the values and the creative energy of Maestro Pedro del Hierro and places its bets upon crafted tradition. Nacho Aguayo, design director of the women’s line, presents a sophisticated proposal that enhances the female figure. The man by Pedro del Hierro, designed by Álex Miralles, appears urban, elegant and cosmopolitan.
