On September 14th, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid presented its annual awards at #MBFWMadrid x NARS Opening Dinner, held in Madrid. Among the honorees were Hannibal Laguna, who received the National Designer Award, and Palomo Spain, who was awarded the Best Makeup Vision Award, the latter sponsored by NARS.
Hannibal Laguna received the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid National Designer Award, which is sponsored by Madrid City Council, acknowledging his career spanning four-decades as well as his contribution to Spanish fashion’s evolution. The award was presented by Madrid City Council’s Delegate for Economy, Innovation, and Finance, Engracia Hidalgo.
Palomo Spain received the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid Best Makeup Vision Award, sponsored by NARS. This award acknowledges his approach to makeup as a creative discipline within a collection’s narrative, alongside other elements that shape a fashion show’s presentation such as; face, skin, hair, and attitude. The award was presented by the President of Shiseido Spain, Frans Reina.
The sculptured awards presented to the winners are the work of sculptor David Vaamonde—born in Nîmes, France, in 1976 and based in Madrid. Handcrafted in his studio, the pieces are carved from white Macael marble from Almería, and draw inspiration from silhouettes, fabric movement, and body shapes.
