Design, sustainability and acknowledgement: SKFK, Isabel Sanchis and Modesto Lomba, outstanding at the San Sebastián Fashion Festival

San Sebastián reaffirms its position as a leading showcase for Spanish fashion with a new edition of the San Sebastián Fashion Festival, which took place from May 5th to 10th, 2025. Over 50 fashion brands and designers, six emblematic venues, and a full schedule, recasts Gipuzkoa's capital city into a key meeting point for local and global talent. Among all the names, three leading figures in Spanish fashion design stand out: SKFK, Modesto Lomba and Isabel Sanchis, undisputed stars of this event.

Basque brand SKFK dazzled with its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, previously presented at Paris Fashion Week. The fashion proposals, steeped in environmental awareness and avant-garde design, reaffirmed the brand's position as the spearhead of ethical fashion in Europe. Their fashion show, held at San Telmo Museum, was one of the most celebrated due to its strong identity and sustainable message.

Isabel Sanchis, renowned for her mastery in haute couture, was another of the festival's leading highlights. In collaboration with Lily & You footwear atelier, she presented an artistic and elegant proposal that combined textiles and craftsmanship in a unique fashion show inside San Telmo Museum's church. This synergy between fashion and footwear elevated, on that day, the level of innovation, and marked one of the most talked-about moments of the event.

Meanwhile, Modesto Lomba, head of Devota & Lomba, received the Professional Achievement Award at the 7th edition of the Basque Country Fashion Awards. His participation at the professional event was key to reflect upon the challenges facing the sector from a perspective that combines sustainability, craftsmanship, and business. His creative, committed, and contemporary legacy was recognized as one of the pillars of Spanish design.

Furthermore to these leading names, the festival featured brands Ze García, Loreak Mendian, Kupale, Barbour, Noventa Grados, and many other local and international designers. The program included fashion shows at the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum, roundtable discussions on sustainability, and outdoor fashion shows featuring over 20 San Sebastián brands.

Directed by Laura Chamorro, the festival once again demonstrated why it is one of the key platforms for promoting fashion in the Basque Country as well as throughout Spain. With an inclusive and avant-garde approach, the San Sebastián Fashion Festival celebrates creativity, encourages reflection regarding the fashion sector's future, and highlights the talent that is shaping the present as well as the future of Spanish fashion.
