Water Meninas

27/10/2025

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada presented her new swimwear collection at Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida, an ode to color, joy, and the boundless creativity that have defined her universe for over four decades. The designer, an icon of the “Movida Madrileña” (Madrid’s cultural movement during the 1980s), returns to the runway to reinterpret one of her house’s most emblematic symbols: the Menina dress.

The collection celebrates the vitality of summer through a playful, aquatic interpretation of her artistic vision. In it, the Meninas—transformed into swimsuits and flowing garments—jump into the water in a pop keynote, with winks to art, humor, and the expressive freedom that characterizes the Madrid-born designer. Each piece embodies her vision of fashion as an act of optimism and a cultural vehicle, where design merges with the joy of living.

Feminine silhouettes unfold in a rainbow of saturated hues that transform into flowers and hearts, while masculine pieces feature shirts and shorts adorned with petals, ribbons, and recycled fabrics. The result is a vibrant and sustainable collection that combines freshness, fantasy, and environmental commitment.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada thus reaffirms her role as an ambassador of Spanish creativity, celebrating from Gran Canaria the power of color as a universal language.
