OTEYZA has designed the official T-shirt for the 2026 Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana; the garment that will be worn by the race’s 45,000 runners next December 31st. The selection was made through a competition organized by ACME among its associates at the request of the race organizers.
The project began over a year ago when the organizers of the Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana contacted ACME to launch a competition among its associated firms to revamp the design of one of the most recognizable garments in Madrid’s sporting calendar. ACME managed the call for entries and collected the proposals; the jury ultimately selected OTEYZA for its ability to challenge traditional sartorial norms and for a message of renewal that resonates with the event’s spirit. The garment was produced in collaboration with Boomerang, the sportswear brand from El Corte Inglés.
“At ACME, we are particularly interested in creating opportunities that take designer fashion beyond its usual settings and connect it with urban life. The Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana is part of Madrid’s cultural identity, and this collaboration demonstrates how design can bring a fresh perspective even to a garment as functional and recognizable as a T-shirt. OTEYZA successfully brought its creative language into this new territory without losing the race’s identity,” explains ACME’s Executive Director, Pepa Bueno.
OTEYZA was founded in 2011 by Paul García de Oteyza and Caterina Pañeda, specializing in bespoke and made-to-measure tailoring with its own atelier in Madrid. The firm has presented collections for three seasons at Paris Men’s Fashion Week, after being selected by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, and its 2018 runway fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid garnered over 45 million views on social media, receiving the National Fashion Award for Innovation the same year. The race shirt was unveiled last Wednesday, September 9th, in Madrid and will accompany runners through the city’s streets on the last night of the year. Registration for the race is open at sansilvestrevallecana.com; registration for the international category opens in October.
