Pedro del Hierro Madrid returns to New York to show their spring/summer 2015 collection at the Studios "Pier 59”. The creative director of the label, Carmen March, has drawn inspiration from the first customers of PdH in the 70s and in the colourful summery photos of Slim Aarons.
The lens of Aarons captured many aristocrats and movie stars during their summers in Marbella and Sotogrande. Taking as a starting point the famous poolside scenes, Carmen March experiments with the cut and fabrics, reproducing the way clothing wraps around the curves of the body of a woman as if she had come out of the water fully clothed.
The rich colours and the vegetation of the Andalusian courtyards, where Aarons photographed his elegant models, envelop the designs by Pedro del Hierro Madrid for next season. Capturing the light of these images, March adds unexpected sparkles to her designs, framing her delicate confections with metallic pieces by jewellery designer Helena Rohner.
With this collection, the label revises its more classic designs like caftans and pyjamas for the summer nights. The Spanish heritage, eternal source of inspiration for March, is also present in her proposal, where she reinterprets the classic traje de corto offering a more elegant and lithe version.
