Juana Martín presents Folklore, her cruise collection, conceived as a retrospective of her career as well as the codes that have defined her creative universe. The Cordoba-based fashion designer brings together in this collection some of the most recognizable elements of her work: fluid fabrics, organza, polka-dotted silk voile, pleats, beading, and fringes. The collection draws on Spanish and flamenco tradition, with special attention to craftsmanship and garment construction.
The collection incorporates an artistic collaboration with sculptor Carlos Óscar Andrade, a Miami-based artist, and founder of the creative studio Claug. Andrade works with recycled materials and fibers and has developed a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional Spanish fringe for the collection, elevating it to a sculptural form.
The visual universe of Folklore is completed with handcrafted jewelry by Mexican designers Gabriela Sánchez and Artemisa Ramírez. Their pieces, crafted in Mexican silver and natural stones in collaboration with master goldsmiths, draws inspiration from Mexico’s popular iconography and festive traditions. The jewelry complements Juana Martín’s designs with a contemporary, artisanal approach, engaging in a dialogue with the fashion designer’s flamenco influences.
