Agatha Ruiz de la Prada dresses up Google NY with colours

11/09/2018

Designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada fills New York Fashion Week with colour and shapes with a fashion show of her spring / summer 2019 collection, held at Google’s New York headquarters. It is the first time that this company’s offices host an event of this kind.

The company’s proposal represents the utopian energy of the fashion brand through large doses of colour and mischief. “Agathistic” designs that range from comfortable, urban pieces to sporty-chic styles mixed with the atelier’s most crazy creations, such as, for example, the impossible and surrealistic swimsuits. It is a collection faithful to Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, with lots of colour, floral patterns, stripes, sequins and her characteristic heart, which is worn not only in the garments but also as a head ornament.

The creator explained to EFE that “it is a very special collection, made with curtain fabrics, inspired by a scene from the film “The Sound of Music” with Julie Andrews, where the protagonist did the same.” The choice of this fabric,” says Agatha to the news agency, is “due to its prints, because it sews well and for me it is important that it has volume. The result has been phenomenal.” she adds.

Additionally, on the occasion of the edition of Uptown Fashion Week, which for 9 years has brought together dressmakers from several Latin American countries seeking to make them known in New York, Agatha has collaborated with Domingo Zapata in the presentation of the jewellery collection “Corazón Contento“, “Happy Heart”, designed by Zapata with the collaboration of jeweller Isabel Guarch. The jewels are a celebration of Mallorca, the birthplace of both artists, and consist of 3 iconic pieces of 18KT white gold, Burmese rubies and diamonds.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada presents her first collection in Madrid Fashion Week in 1985. Throughout her career she has participated in important catwalks around the world and has a relevant commercial development. She currently works with more than 30 licensees, and applies her brand to numerous products beyond fashion design. Her creations are distributed in its stores in Madrid, Oporto, Lima and Bogota, and multi-brand outlets in more than 140 countries around the world. She received the National Fashion Design Award in 2017.
