The VIII edition of Madrid es Moda begins

18/01/2019

The urban fashion festival Madrid es Moda launches today with the goal of “dressing-up” the capital during Fashion Week through exhibits, special shop windows, museum tours, meetings, shopping … All with design and Spanish creation as protagonists, until the 31st of this month.

One of the main protagonists of the activities program is the already traditional window shop competition, fashion windows to the street that are dressed up with Spanish designer’s creations, and the work of students of the main design schools in Madrid (in the novel category), as well as expert window dressers (in the professional category), to recreate a fashion micro-universes behind a glass.

Madrid hotels have also opened their doors to fashion in this new edition. Exhibits of emblematic looks by Spanish creators, accompanied by gastro-fashion actions inspired by their collections (such as Agatha Ruiz de la Prada or Teresa Helbig in the Only You Hotels of Barquillo and Atocha respectively). Cocktails and tapas made expressly to celebrate fashion during these days (such as the squid sandwich tapa at Hotel Iberostar Las Letras, or the cocktail at Hotel The Principal Madrid) complete the festival’s gastronomic offer.

Gancedo, the prestigious firm of textile editors, offers a collective exhibition of designers at its space on Velázquez Street titled “Fashion among fabrics”, in which the creations of Devota & Lomba, Duyos, García Madrid, Miguel Marinero, Roberto Verino and Ulises Mérida dialogue with the fabrics of the new Gancedo collection.
