Solidarity fashion show by Hannibal Laguna in Puerto Rico

02/11/2015

Designer Hannibal Laguna has presented his collection Azabache (Black Amber) in a solidarity fashion show against gender violence in Puerto Rico. Spain and the Caribbean country are very sensitive with this cause that elicits from institutions a huge effort to eradicate it, hence that the Puerto Rican governor, Alejandro García Padilla, and the First Lady, Wilma Pastrana, opened the doors of the Hall of Mirrors in their residence in La Fortaleza, in Old San Juan, so that the Spanish designer’s creations could be showcased.

Spanish and Puerto Rican culture exchanged emotions during this event that was attended by members of the Board of the Alas Foundation, chaired by Dr. Sonia Cortés. More than 600 women of Puerto Rican society enjoyed a collection inspired by such a Spanish element as Azabache (Black Amber).

Although the black colour of the stone has been the source of inspiration, the collection by Hannibal Laguna shows a wide range of stunning colours drawn from nature, such as pink orchid, bougainvillea, imperial purple, red poppy, green forest and blue bell.

The designer chose silk gazar and organza for billowing skirts and dresses with jewel bodies filled with delicate rhinestone applications. There were also pleats and embroideries in tattoo mode with the bias cut so characteristic of the Hannibal Laguna silhouettes.

Of particular relevance is the shoe wear of this collection, with shoes designed by Laguna and made by artisans in Spain due to his alliance with MTNG EXPERIENCE.
