Presentation of the National Fashion Industry Awards

HRH Queen Letizia, accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, presides over the presentation of the National Fashion Industry Awards. The awards acknowledge the merits of people, institutions, organizations and companies, and their adaptation to the market, their capacity for innovation, and their internationalization, promoting the image of Spanish fashion. ACME associates Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Oteyza, and Reliquiae have been awarded in this 5th edition.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada has received the National Fashion Designer Award for her professional career of more than thirty years, in which she has created an identity signature that has been, and is a reflection of a different way of understanding fashion.

The National Award for Innovative Entrepreneurship has been for Oteyza, for their work in renovating traditional Spanish tailoring and their work in the recovery of merino black sheep wool, an autochthonous Spanish breed in danger of extinction.

The Award for Best Fashion Accessories Industry has been for Reliquiae, a luxury leather goods brand with 100% Spanish financial and human capital, and global projection, which has been recognized with this Award for their constant research on the matter, and the integration of Spanish artisan legacies.

These awards acknowledge the fashion sector’s contribution to the whole of our economy, representing 2.9% of the GDP. Our companies’ exports add up to 21,000 million euros and the workforce linked to fashion in the companies accounts for 4.1% of the total employed people. In this edition the following have also been awarded: Camper, National Honorary Award for Large Company; Liasa (La Industrial Algodonera); Award for Best Reference Industry; Calzados Victoria, Award for Best Footwear Industry; Dolores Promesas, Award for Best Textile and Clothing Industry; HOLA! Magazine, Award for Communication, and Leonor Pérez-Pita, Award for Promotion in the Fashion Industry.

Other members of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España were among the finalists of this 5th Edition of the National Fashion Industry Awards: designer Ulises Mérida, in the category of Innovative Entrepreneurship, and Fely Campo and The Extreme Collection, in the category of the Best Textile and Clothing Industry.

The jury was made up this year by the Secretary General of Industry and the SME, Raúl Blanco; the General Director of Industry, Galo Gutiérrez; the Vice President of the Spanish Intertextile Council (CIE), Manuel Díaz de Marcos; the President of the Spanish Federation of Clothing (FEDECON), Ángel Asensio; the Director of the National Association of Perfumery and Cosmetics (STANPA), Val Díez; designer Purificación García and the Director of Communication of EFE Agency and Director of EFE STYLE, Lourdes Álvarez.[:]
