THE ASOCIACIÓN DE CREADORES DE MODA DE ESPAÑA JOINS GRAN CANARIA MODA CÁLIDA IN ORGANIZING A CONFERENCE REGARDING SUSTAINABILITY, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY

18/07/2022

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria promotes a training program versing upon sustainability, entrepreneurship and circular economy through Gran Canaria Moda Cálida. Said program, which will start today at the Casa Condal de San Fernando, has been designed by the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), which once again joins the Cabildo to develop a training initiative for the island’s fashion professionals as well as the future fashion professionals.

Designers and experts in fashion, sustainability and circularity will help attendees to delve deeper into the keys for the fashion business’ future. Regulatory guidelines, action plans, collaborative strategies, success stories or financing measures for the development of circular fashion projects will be some of the topics to be unfolded during two days.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso, will be in charge of kicking off the program today bringing top-level professionals to the Summer University from Maspalomas on the island of Gran Canaria on July 18th and 19th .

Creator Moisés Nieto, and designer and researcher Isabel Berz will be the protagonists of today’s presentations. The creator from Jaén, one of Spain’s leading references regarding sustainable fashion, will speak to the attendees about his career, highlighting his commitment to original up-cycling projects, the use of fabrics from recycled materials and his work for the recovery and transformation of traditional crafts.

For her part, Isabel Berz, fashion designer and researcher, will present the keys to understanding fashion companies’ opportunities for innovation and growth through transnational collaboration, speaking to the attendees about the European Union’s different initiatives, of which they can be part of.

The second day will begin with the participation of Albert Guerrero, director of Quality and Sustainability of Lola Casademunt. His work at the forefront of the sustainability strategy of this renowned Catalan brand will serve as a practical example to convey to the attendees the new regulatory guidelines in which Europe’s fashion industry, and its companies, whatever their volume, will move towards from now on.

The day will continue with the intervention of a specialist in digital content and circular economy María Giraldo. Servitization, awareness, supra-recycling, and re-styling will be the key concepts in her speech, in which she will also address the great business opportunities that exist for the fashion industry in this new context.

The training days will conclude on Tuesday with a round table moderated by ACME’S Executive Director, Pepa Bueno, which will include the participation of Araceli Díaz Santana, Director of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, and designers Jorge Toledo de Chela Cló, Elena Morales and Aurelia Gil, the island’s references in innovation, sustainability and craft projects.
