The 60th edition of MBFWM takes off

13/09/2014

Devota & Lomba is the label in charge of triggering the start of the 60th edition of MBFWM of the designers of ACME. Modesto Lomba presents a collection full of floral motifs in the prints and in the shapes. Florissima is a fresh proposal where white is one of the starring colours. Roman sandals become the key to his looks, adding a touch of youthful freshness to one of the veteran brands of our runway.

Roberto Verino starts out from nature and the Mexican deserts to show a proposal full of ponchos and tunics. Raffia, chiffon and linen fabrics are the protagonists of a collection inspired by Mexico DF and the pre-Columbian culture. From the urban style of one of the most cosmopolitan capitals of Latin America to the Aztec influence, a merger that results in garments trimmed with feathers and tassels.

The Mediterranean floods the creations by Francis Montesinos. Starfish, shells and corals are the protagonists of a collection where blue is the predominant colour. Ruffles simulating waves and garments made with fishnets trim the proposals in the purest Montesinos style. Sinuous lines in designs in which the artist from Valencia again demonstrates his expertise in the manufacture of knit wear and crochet.

Juanjo Oliva presented on the runway his collection for Elogy, a brand by El Corte Inglés with which he has been collaborating since 2012. The Madrid designer has shown a proposal replete of geometric prints and large dosses of colour taking as a source of inspiration the work of the artist Lygia Clark. Airs from the 70’s in ultra-feminine and sophisticated designs where the dress stands out as the fetish garment.

Ana Locking presents The Magic Mountain, a collection inspired in the novel by Thomas Mann. The designer takes as the starting point the resting home in central Alps where the story takes place. White dominates the proposals from start to finish, with red and sky blue as inflection points. Rigidity and lightness contrast through out the collection in which opposed are technological fabrics and traditional materials such as tulle, which is presented with artisan embroidery.

Angel Schlesser transports us to the savannah with a collection of safari trends. Lapels, pockets and bulky zips become protagonists in designs made of natural fabrics such as linen, cotton and silk. Khaki and animal prints are interrupted by splashes of yellow and orange in a proposal that winks at the 70s and the work of Yves Saint Laurent.

Ion Fiz searches for inspiration in the sea. With the collection Aftersun, the designer from Bilbao takes us on an idyllic cruise that invites us to dream through the creations made in lightweight, natural fabrics. The breeze, the horizon and the light are represented in the exclusive prints made by the artist Gabriel Moreno. A proposal full of versatile garments and oversize silhouettes that places the full stop to the end of the first day of fashion shows in MBFWM.
