Thanks to the agreement reached last year by ACME and INAEM to bring closer fashion design to the performing arts, Teresa Helbig will dress the components of the National Ballet of Spain of "Alento" the new show that the company directed by Antonio Najarro will premiere on June 12th at the Zarzuela Theatre.
"For me it is a pleasure, a compliment and a challenge. Ballet, like fashion, is predominantly a visual art, but encompasses a complex universe: narrative, rhythm, emotions, staging, choreography, music ... The costumes are a significant part, but one of the most exciting things about this project has been to get to known the whole team of professionals behind this show,” states the Catalan designer.
Teresa Helbig has created the wardrobe of "Alento" working very directly with Antonio Najarro, Director of the National Ballet. "It was very easy to work with Antonio. Both of us are very passionate people in everything we do and this has enabled a perfect understanding ".
In a few days the designer will present at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid her proposals for next winter. An enterprise she has combined with her collaboration with the Ballet. Two collections with very different inspirations and methods. "The spark of a collection can ignite from a book, a song, a picture in a magazine or, as is the case, a visit to a museum. I allow chance to be part of the process. In the case of ballet however, the work is on the table from the beginning. A model wears the model you put on, no matter how cumbersome. Dancers must be comfortable, with freedom of movement and, above all, should convey the aesthetic idea of the creator of the show".
Teresa Helbig takes her creativity beyond the runway embarking on several projects such as her new fashion film and her collaboration with the BNE which gets up on the best stages her designs.
