Our partner David Delfin passes away

All of us who are part of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda (ACME) deeply regret the demise of our dear friend and colleague David Delfin. In these difficult moments, we can all but give our support and affection to his partner, family and friends.

It is very difficult for us having to say good-bye so prematurely to an exceptional person and a unique professional that we love and admire enormously. David became part of the ACME family in 2005, where he earned all the affection and respect of his fellow professionals. Very committed to the defence of the interests of Spanish fashion designers, he was a member of the Board of Directors of this Association since 2010.

His extraordinary talent and creativity revolutionized national design since the launch of his label Davidelfin, a multidisciplinary project created in 2001 together with the Postigo brothers and Bimba Bosé, and which undoubtedly marked a before and an after in Spanish fashion. The creator from Malaga arrived to fashion through painting, using military clothes as a support for his works. In 2002 he presented his first collection in the then called Pasarela Cibeles and in 2009 he made his international leap making his debut at New York Fashion Week, where he participated for four seasons.

His unmistakable seal has been branded in the history of our fashion. Always restless, his creativity jumped from the runways to sectors such as optics, decoration and even jewellery, where he made collaborations with the mythical house Suárez and designer Helena Rohner. He impressed his characteristic brand identity in numerous and different graphic design projects, such as the creation of the new logo of Alimentos de España. He also emphasized his role as creator of costumes for the performing arts, working for the National Dance Company or for the film 'Los Amantes Pasajeros' by Pedro Almodóvar ... A creativity without limits that made him a worthy winner of the National Fashion Design Award in 2016.

His great courage has been reflected in each and every one of his professional projects, but also in the struggle he has maintained against his illness during this last year. With him goes a fundamental pillar of this great family of Spanish fashion. An irreparable loss that fills us with sadness.

His sense of humour, sympathy, kindness and closeness will always be in the memory of all those who have had the immense luck to share moments with him.

Rest in peace, compañero.

  • The Funeral Chapel will be installed in the Museo del Traje, Madrid.
