Fashion is a museum art

22/01/2018

Some of the most important museums of the capital have joined our festival Madrid es Moda with the aim of making fashion visible as an artistic and creative form with thematic tours, guided tours and exclusive advantages.

On the one hand, the Museo del Traje will offer a guided tour of the exhibition “Pedro Rovira, from Haute Couture to Ready-To-Wear” from 24th to 30th of January. Rovira was the couturier of the golden age of Haute Couture most involved in the consolidation of “Prêt-à-Porter” in Spain during the end of the 60s and throughout the 70s. Parallel to his dedication to couture, he created very complete collections to be produced in series by the industry, marketed both in Spain and abroad.

In this tour you can admire the fruitful result of more than 45 years of creativity and exquisite craftsmanship by the designer from the Canary Islands, through 212 shoe models and 80 of his original drawings, all from the creators private collection. (Previous registration in +34 910505755, from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.).

The Lázaro Galdiano Museum offers a thematic visit “Fashion and Music”, a tour of paintings, prints, photographs and auditions that delves into the relationship between these two disciplines that, for centuries, have been inseparable companions. From the refined court festivals of the sixteenth century, to the opulent and corseted dances of Madrid’s high society of the early twentieth century, you can admire this tour of the museum’s collections to be held on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of January at 12,00hrs (Previous registration in educacion@museolazarogaldiano.es).

The contribution of the Museum of Romanticism to the programming of Madrid es Moda is the temporary exhibition “My shadow goes, but I’m staying. Illusion and photography during Romanticism “, a privileged testimony about mid-nineteenth-century fashion. With the birth of photography, a culture of the image quickly emerged in which various optical games would soon appear. In this exhibition, a series of photographs created for fun and entertainment are exposed, a playful deception for the senses where you can admire how the high society of the time dressed.
