Fashion illuminates Madrid

27/11/2025

Christmas is already shining brightly in the capital city. On Saturday, November 22nd, Plaza Cibeles hosted the official launch of Madrid City Council’s Christmas lights, an event where Spanish author fashion took center stage once again. Since 2007, ACME has participated in this project that transforms the city into a journey of creativity, light, and design.

This year’s edition includes three new proposals by OTEYZA, Isabel Sanchís and Pablo Erroz, whom present original installations in calle Montera and the plazas of San Juan de la Cruz and Chueca. Their works join those of thirteen other designers who have collaborated in previous years and whose pieces are distributed throughout Madrida creating a luminous map that can be viewed as from Monday on the “Todo está en Madrid” (Everything is in Madrid) website and its app.

OTEYZA celebrates humanism as well as the city’s intimate scale by contributing a universe of walking figures; Isabel Sanchís installs a geometric fir tree in gold and silver spheres that encloses Christmas symbols and nods to design; and Pablo Erroz transforms Chueca into a landscape of luminous panels inspired by the LGBTQ+ flag, a gesture that resonates with the neighborhood’s identity. Three different perspectives regarding light that reflect the contemporary spirit of Madrid.

The route is rounded out with familiar installations: Juan Vidal’s red heart in Preciados, Moisés Nieto’s handcrafted circles in Arenal, and Juana Martín’s white roses in Fuencarral. Also noteworthy are Sardá’s monumental Menina on Paseo del Prado, Pedro del Hierro’s starry sky in Serrano, Verino’s red fir tree in Plaza Mayor, and Duyos‘ garlands in Antonio López. This year also sees the addition of new pieces such as Devota & Lomba’s fir tree in Ronda de Atocha and Marta Rota for Tot-Hom’s peace hearts.

Each installation offers a personal interpretation of Christmas, transforming the city into a stage for creativity accessible to all. A unique experience for the brightest days of the year.
