Andalusia Indoors: Moisés Nieto

16/09/2026

Moisés Nieto’s firm presented at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid the Spring/Summer 27 collection. The proposal steers clear from Andalusia’s most recognizable imagery – its colors and folklore – to look inward, to that which is more intimate: small towns, childhood, and silences that are never fully voiced.

Moisés Nieto acknowledges this facet of Andalusia in the women painted by Julio Romero de Torres: serious faces, gazes that suggest more than they reveal, and a dignity that stands on its own. He also recognizes it in Lorca’s Andalusia—a land of contradictions, at once dark and luminous, where desire, death, earth, and festivities coexist. These town festivities – la verbena – appear in the collection as a moment when pent-up emotion is allowed to erupt: music, lights, and bodies moving together, contrasting with the sobriety of everyday life.

Black takes the collection’s center stage, acting as a memory vessel: the color of mourning, earth, night, and secrets. Set against this backdrop is the light of the fiesta; a celebratory response to that daily sobriety. The result envisions an Andalusian woman who is hardworking, strong, and sensitive, transforming her heritage into a deeply personal memory.

The firm works with 100% Spanish raw materials, reflecting the same principle of local proximity upon which this vision of Andalusia—conceived from within—is built.
