Carlota Barrera joins ACME

04/07/2019

The young designer from Asturias joins ACME thanks to the agreement reached in 2014 between Vogue and the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España, whereby the winners of the Who’s on Next award join said professional organization. With her arrival, Carlota Barrera joins Juan Vidal, Maria Ke Fisherman, ManéMané, Moisés Nieto, Leandro Cano and Palomo Spain, also winners of this prestigious award and already members of the Association.

For the designer, her arrival at ACME is an opportunity to share with other creators the objective of broadcasting and placing value upon fashion design within and beyond our borders. At only 26 years old, she has won the country’s most prestigious award for new creators, which had during last edition Jean Paul Gaultier as President of the jury, as well as the MODA-FAD 2019 Prize, awarded by the Association for FAD Fashion Promotion. Thus, Carlota Barerra is signalled as one of the firm promises in menswear designer fashion, combining in her creations concepts such as craftsmanship and tradition together with sustainability and the investigation of new materials.

Based in London, currently the headquarters of her fashion brand, she graduated from London College of Fashion and began her career in the fashion world working for big fashion companies. In July 2018 she began her solo career and presented her first men’s wear collection, entitled The Matador and the Fisherman, for spring / summer season 2019. A proposal with which she laid the foundations of her homonymous signature label.

Exploring modern silhouettes and creating collections that provide a new approach to classic tailoring and artisan techniques characterize the work of Carlota Barrera. New luxury concepts committed to a renewed aesthetic to dress contemporary men.[:]
