The 66th Edition of MBFWM begins

16/09/2017

ULISES MÉRIDA  was in charge of opening the IFEMA runway at the 66th edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. The designer from Toledo presents a collection that begins with a trapeze silhouette to be deconstructed. Linen, cotton, satin and mat are the star materials of a proposal in which flowing and oversize garments abound, and in which the white shirt rises again as an absolute protagonist, this time in collaboration with iconic brand Mirto.

ANDRÉS SARDÁ transports us to the golden age of Holywood in the 1940’s with a luxurious collection of retro styles, starring a young aspiring actress. The high-end pieces of the proposals for the forthcoming spring-summer 2018 season ooze glamour and sensuality with plumetti, lace and silk. The swimwear fashion creations are silver stained and filled with hand-applied crystals to provide a dazzling light effect.

FRANCIS MONTESINOS presents his collection “The Queens of the South”. The Valencian designer looks towards Latin America to show a proposal full of details: prints, frills, embroidery … The exuberant Montesinos universe rejuvenates itself through practical and simple lines, but without losing its folk essence, which this time takes us to countries like Mexico, Peru or Argentina.

ION FIZ, who celebrates his 15th anniversary this year, is committed to the creation of a sustainable collection for next spring-summer season 2018. For this, the Basque designer has collaborated with the workshop Lal La Buya in Melilla, which gives work to women at risk of exclusion, to make this proposal inspired by the multiculturality of the autonomous city.

DOLORES CORTÉS  seeks confrontation with a very elaborate swimwear collection in which movements as disparate as Cubism and primitive art come together. Handcrafted work, braiding and hand-made applications, contrasts with cutting-edge stamping techniques. A technical and manual counterpoint that translates into “couture” swimwear.

AGATHA RUIZ DE LA PRADA pays homage to Cristóbal Balenciaga in full colour. The designer takes of from her origins in fashion creation, when she was so inspired by Getaria’s master, to unfold in the runway an authentic experiment with volumes and patterns. Strength, audacity and mischief are the keys to her amazing and spectacular proposal.

DEVOTA & LOMBA presents “Hypnotic”, a set of organic lines that shows the continuous research process of new patronage techniques carried out by the company headed by Modesto Lomba. White is the thread of a sensitive collection of great purity, in which the textures take on full protagonism through brocaded cottons and honeycomb garments.

The brand ÁNGEL SCHLESSER, with the creative direction of Carolina Menéndez, shows on the runway a collection in which the line as a concept takes on full prominence. The proposal of the brand begins with very natural garments, both in the colour and in shape, to be splashed with notes of strawberry, emerald green and navy blue, and in which the tailor suit becomes an essential.
