Gran Canaria Swim Week, consolidated as a European epicenter of swimwear fashion returns in october

20/09/2024

The Cabildo de Gran Canaria presented the key notes of the forthcoming edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week, which will be held from October 2nd to 5th, 2024 at the Expomeloneras venue in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria). The presentation of the event in Madrid was carried out by Minerva Alonso, Councilor for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria on the terrace of the Rosewood Villa Magna Hotel.

Gran Canaria Swim Week will bring together a total of 40 designers and brands in this edition, of which 23 are from the Canary Islands – 14 from Gran Canaria, 7 from La Palma, one from Lanzarote and one from Tenerife-; 8 from the Peninsula, and 9 international, among which are American and European firms. All of them will present their Spring Summer 2025 swimwear proposals on the Canary island’s runway. Amidst the designers and brands confirmed for this edition are, among others, creators of recognised prestige such as Aurelia Gil, Dolores Cortés, Elena Morales and Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada.

Gran Canaria Swim Week is a unique event in its category at a European level, and arises from the firm commitment of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria with the fashion industry. With this new edition, the event reinforces its position as an international benchmark in swimwear, and consolidates itself as the key event of its kind within the European runway circuit. The professionalisation of the catwalk, one of the pillars of the strategy carried out by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to promote the event, is based on a program of fashion shows with prestigious names from the current design scene, both Canarian, national and international.

The councillor also wanted to highlight some very positive data from the last edition of GCSW, such as the more than two million views on social media networks, a 10,255% ROI, a 6% growth in the number of companies linked to the Gran Canaria sector from 2015 to 2022 or an increase in direct employment of 8.16%.

Finally, the Councillor thanked the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce and ACME, as well as the presence of all the international and national firms that join the work of local creators as well as the entire team of the Canary Island’s institution.
