The Academia de la Moda Española is created

09/05/2022

Fashion and culture welcome the Fundación Academia de la Moda Española (FAME), a non-profit organization created to boost the promotion and recognition of Spanish designer fashion. Promoted mainly by ACME, its objective is also to further the sector’s future development, interconnecting design and creation with high crafts, training, research, innovation, technology and business. In this initial phase, FAME will focus its efforts in adding collaborating companies and entities to said organization, which will make possible the launch of all its exciting projects.

FAME is chaired by Modesto Lomba, creative director of Devota&Lomba and president of ACME, and Pepa Bueno, executive director of ACME, who leads its vice-presidency. The board of trustees is completed by Juan Duyos and Héctor Jareño, creative director of Reliquiae; both members of the board of directors of ACME, as well as Beatriz González-Cristóbal, counsellor and expert in the international fashion and luxury industry and designers Helena Rohner and Juanjo Oliva. Renata Mendaña and Cristina Mesa, lawyers and partners at Garrigues, hold the secretariat and deputy secretariat, respectively.

The start of the foundation’s activity will be marked by a presentation event that will take place on Thursday, May 26th at the Museo del Traje in Madrid. An event led by journalist and writer Ana García-Siñeriz, which will be attended by Pilar Alegría Continente, Minister of Education and Professional Trades, representatives of fashion, and other artistic disciplines, institutions, personalities and the media. A long-awaited debut to celebrate the Foundation’s creation and explicate its next steps.

FUTURE FAME PROJECTS

Headquartered in Madrid, FAME works globally, within Spain as well as abroad, with a strategic vision supporting author fashion creators from all over Spain, while actively participating in the consideration and construction of the cultural, identity, social, economic and political tools that will allow their future development.

The Foundation Academia de la Moda Española also promotes the recognition of Spanish fashion talent as well as the active conservation of traditional trades know-how ensuring its evolution, updating and viability, betting to achieve this on training, research, innovation and technology. Another of FAME’s objectives is to consolidate Spanish author brands, an essential step in building Spanish fashion’s own identity, which is why it actively promotes entrepreneurship, professionalization and support in company management.

These four pillars define the Foundation Academia de la Moda Española’s mission and will materialize in the following four initiatives, and in others that will be announced forthcoming.
