Spanish Fashion´s great “Fiesta” brings together the sector´s key players

The Fernán Gómez Teatro Centro Cultural de la Villa hosted the 1st Edition of the Academia de la Moda Española, FAME, Awards. An exciting gala attended by Spanish Fashion’s leading voices, names and hands. Organized by FAME and RTVE, these Awards fulfilled the fashion sector’s long cherished dream of giving visibility, recognizing and enhancing the work of all its protagonists. The gala was streamed live on “La 2”, TVE Internacional and RTVE Play, and the previous red carpet held at the National Library, on RTVE Play, with programs presented by Nieves Álvarez, Elena Sánchez and Rafa Muñoz, and directed by María Eizaguirre, director of Communication and Participation of RTVE.

An evening that began on the steps of the National Library, the scenario of its great red carpet, a runway and window shop of Spanish designer’s talent, an event attended by the interim president of RTVE, Concepción Cascajosa and Modesto Lomba, fashion designer and president of the Fundación Academia de Moda Española (FAME) together with, the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo; Marta Rivera de la Cruz, 3rd Deputy Mayor and Culture Delegate of Madrid City Council; Mariano de Paco, Cultural Advisor of the CAM; Óscar Arroyo, director of the National Library of Spain; Cristina Asacia Navarro, Undersecretary of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration; Manuela Villa, general director of Cultural Affairs for the Presidency of the Government and Juan Carlos Pérez de la Fuente, director of the Fernán Gómez Teatro Centro Cultural de la Villa.

Parading on the red carpet were, among others, Nieves Álvarez, the gala’s host; models such as Verónica Blume, Laura Sánchez and Almudena Fernández; musical performers like Marta Sánchez, Mikel Erentxun, Alberto Jiménez from Miss Caffeina, Leo Rizzi, Rayden and Walls; actors Macarena Gómez, Hiba Abouk, Nerea Barros and Mireia Oriol; fashion designers Teresa Helbig, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Juan Vidal, Moisés Nieto, Carlota Barrera, Acromatyx, Oteyza, Ana Locking, Arturo Obegero, Juan Duyos, Juanjo Oliva, Jorge Redondo, Ulises Mérida, Hannibal Laguna and Ze García; key names in the sector such as Rosa Tous, Adriana Domínguez and Jaume Miquel; historical dressmakers, such as Lola Piña and Marisa Abenza; faces of Spanish Television programs and series such as ‘Maestros de la Costura‘, ‘MasterChef‘, Benidorm Fest, ‘La Promesa‘, ‘La Moderna‘ or ‘Cifras y Letras‘, and influencers such as María Pombo, Gala González, Marina Rivers and Rocío Osorno, among others. RTVE journalists Elena S. Sánchez and Rafa Muñoz presented the special program that covered all the details of the red carpet that lasted for almost three hours, and along which more than a hundred personalities paraded.

“We must claim the importance of Spanish fashion in the country’s cultural and industrial fabric, both in and outside our borders. This is precisely why we are here, to give recognition to the entire sector. And not only to the more visible faces, but to all those invisible or anonymous people who contribute to shape this great industry: artisans, pattern makers, producers, photographers, stylists, models, journalists, agencies, historians, teachers and all those who, With their work make fashion,” stated Modesto Lomba, president of the Fundación Academia de la Moda Española, FAME, during his speech.

The Awards ceremony opened with a spectacular performance that merged fashion and music. Fifty models, to the rhythm of Loco Mía, toured the theater showing pieces by prominent designers. At the same time, several dancers took to the stage dressed in the original garments and fans from the iconic Loco Mía band. The night’s musical lineup also featured performances by Marta Sánchez, OBK, Nebulossa and Mikel Erentxun.
