Culture with “room service”

16/02/2017

Just as in the iconic Gran Gran Hotel Budapest from the Wes Anderson movie, hotels with a history, and above all a great deal of present, aim to be more than just a suite of rooms and services. The goal of this new generation of hotels is to become cultural containers and generators of experiences that go beyond a good nights sleep.

This aim is manifested during MADRID ES MODA in designer’s collective exhibitions at the Hotel Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía (Devota & Lomba, Juana Martín, Jorge Vázquez, Lebor Gabala, Menchén Tomàs, Miguel Marinero, Teresa Helbig, Ulises Mérida) and the Gran Meliá Fénix (Ángel Schlsesser, Devota & Lomba, Duyos, Hannibal Laguna, Inuñez, Juan Vidal and Roberto Torretta). Or in individual projects such as Daniel Rabaneda at the Hotel Urso or the boudoir room of Maya Hansen at the Dear Hotel.

Yara Martínez, Director of the Hotel Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía, underlines that “fashion is a fundamental part of the artistic and cultural capital of Spain and especially of the city of Madrid.” For this reason, such an emblematic space inaugurated in 1917 and declared Patrimony of the Community of Madrid, is handed over each edition to MADRID ES MODA. On this occasion, the challenge has been double, incorporating to the equation (the special window shops) a new actor: the students of IED Madrid Design.

“For some years now, we have had the opportunity to host with great success the organization of different initiatives related to this sector”, says Martinez, “our intention is to continue supporting all those quality projects that allow us to continue to promote the fashion industry and its creators, both in Spain and internationally. “[:]
