Juana Martín, 2024 Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts

The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, approved the awardees of the Gold Medals for Merit in Fine Arts for the year 2024 to 38 personalities and institutions from the world of culture, including fashion designer Juana Martín, member of ACME since 2012.

A benchmark in Spanish fashion, the designer has taken her native Córdoba around the whole world through her collections and her recognisable hallmarks: garments inspired by her Andalusian and gypsy origins made to transcend seasons and trends. Continuing to reap successes and break barriers since she began her career in 1999, she debuted at the former Cibeles catwalk in 2005, becoming the first Andalusian woman and the first gypsy woman to showcase her own fashion collection at the Madrid event. Currently, she is the only Spanish firm that participates in the official Haute Couture calendar in Paris, the most important haute couture event in the world.

The Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts distinguishes people and entities that have stood out in the field of artistic and cultural creation or have provided notable services in the promotion, development or broadcasting of art and culture or the conservation of artistic heritage.
