Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the great Spanish fashion event, presents its 68th edition. The calendar of this call will host a total of 47 fashion shows by different creators and brands, including those of 34 ACME designers. Fashion week moves ahead to July in its second annual meeting to take its place in the international calendar and avoid overlapping with other fashion weeks such as New York or London.
From July 6th, and until Wednesday, July 11th, the presentations of the collections will take place in pavilion 14.1 of IFEMA-Feria de Madrid. Agatha Ruiz de la Prada will be in charge of opening the general program of established creators on Sunday 8th at 11.00.
This agenda is completed with its “off” program, which includes fashion shows and presentations outside IFEMA-Feria de Madrid, and will take place from July 6th to 11th. Special mention deserves the unique scenarios chosen by some designers such as the Royal Botanical Garden chosen by Schlesser; the Arab house, by Pilar Dalbat; Matadero Madrid, by Oteyza who shows with dancers from the National Ballet of Spain and with choreography and special collaboration of Antonio Najarro, Artistic Director of the BNE, Ballet Nacional de España, the Museum of the Railroad by Juana Martín, the Picalagartos Sky Bar of the NH Collection Gran Vía by Maya Hansen, Boulevard 30 by Beatriz Peñalver, Santo Mauro by Moisés Nieto, or the Caleido Tower –also known as the fifth tower north of the Castellana-, by Maria Ke Fisherman, who returns to show on the official calendar.
The new edition is full of new features, such as the return of Roberto Torretta and Menchén Tomás, the Pedro del Hierro fashion show at IFEMA, the first runway presentation of Miguel Marinero’s summer women’s wear textile collection, and Duarte and Juan Vidal at the headquarters of the Community of Madrid. Additionally, designer Juanjo Oliva, under his Oliva brand, will upload on the runway the Ecofashion Project by Ecoembes collection, made with fabrics made from recycled materials, mainly plastic bottles (PET). On the other hand, Leandro Cano will carry out a special performance on the off program.
Finally, highlighted is the tribute to be received by beloved and respected fashion journalist and director of TVE program Flash Moda, Jesús Mª Montes, on Monday, July 9th.
