Project UNIVERSE FORTUNY MADRAZO

04/07/2019

The FortunyM Culture Association, established in Granada with the main objective of reclaiming the figure of artist from Granada, Mariano Fortuny Madrazo (1871 – 1949), has chosen Madrid Fashion Week to present their star project UNIVERSE FORTUNY MADRAZO. An initiative created with the aim of vindicating the legacy of this versatile fashion personality, in one of the lesser-known fields in which he developed his work.

Within the framework of the activities held on occasion of Madrid es Moda, and with the support of Madrid City Council, ACME and MBFWMadrid, designer Pilar Dalbat, President of this Association, has made a review of the activities carried out since its foundation two years ago. She has also placed special emphasis on this new project, UNIVERSE FORTUNY MADRAZO, and on the program of events upon which work is being done to commemorate in the year 2021 the 150th anniversary of the artist’s birthday, one of the Spanish personalities with the greatest global projection.

At the presentation event, held in the Pavilion of Cecilio Rodríguez in Parque del Retiro in Madrid, Charo Izquierdo, Director of MBFWM and Pepa Bueno, Director of ACME, were present to show their support to the FortunyM Culture Association and this new initiative. “We seek institutional support so that Fortuny becomes the Spanish cultural bet”, commented Dalbat.

Mariano Fortuny Madrazo, born in Granada in 1871 and resident in Rome, Paris and Venice, is one of the great cultural references of the twentieth century for his renowned works in the fields of painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, technology and fashion.
