Czech supermodel Karolina Kurkova is The Face of Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida latest edition, which takes place from October 22nd to 25th. The event, promoted by the Gran Canaria Island’s Council, with this choice, reinforces its international reach as well as its commitment to creative and sustainable swimwear.
The event’s 17th edition brings together 44 designers and brands from the Canary Islands, mainland Spain, and other countries, consolidating its position as the swimwear’s sector largest European showcase. The opening ceremony, held at the Pasito Blanco Marina, was followed by events at Expomeloneras in the heart of Maspalomas.
The presence of Kurkova, a global fashion icon and advocate for sustainability, symbolizes this platform’s evolution, which combines industry, local talent, and island identity. “Gran Canaria Swim Week is now an international benchmark due to its creative level and its alignment to the island’s values,” emphasized Antonio Morales, President of the Island’s Council, during the presentation, which also included the participation of Modesto Lomba, President of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España, representing the Spanish fashion designer’s sector.
The event is held at a time of expansion for Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, a public program that promotes economic development and the international reach of fashion in the Canary Islands. During the last edition, the runway show generated an estimated impact of over six million euros and increased the visibility of participating brands in European and Latin American markets.
With Karolina Kurkova as its face and an increasingly diverse and responsible approach, Gran Canaria Swim Week 2025 reaffirms its role as a bridge between Canarian talent and international fashion.
