José Manuel Rodríguez, artisan shoemaker and head of Tamarcos, conducted a course on the making of women’s dress sandals for the La Minilla school teachers, as part of the training program developed by ACME and Gran Canaria Moda Cálida.

The training consisted of 30 hours of instruction, combining classroom sessions with work in the artisan’s workshop, where the footwear’s finishing process was completed. The course provided a practical approach to the necessary steps for making eleven pairs of sandals, from preparing the materials to finishing the pieces.

Tamarcos is based in Santa Brígida, Gran Canaria, where it carries out its work as a traditional shoemaker, paying close attention to the manual process and the time required for shoemaking.

This initiative is part of a training program promoted by ACME and Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, designed to introduce specialized fashion crafts to professionals involved in the sector’s teaching and technical development areas.

During the sessions, the group worked on a women’s dress sandal design, developing the process in contact with the workshop, a place where the shoe is shaped and finished.
