Youth and expertise on the first day of MBFWM

Brand Andrés Sardá is in charge of firing the starting signal of the 64th edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. The four yearly seasons inspire the creations of the Catalan insignia. A lush spring comes with swimwear and lingerie full of flowers. Summer arrives hand in hand with sailor stripes and a colour range that evokes the Mediterranean. The fall pays tribute to vegetation with leaves that roam the feminine silhouette. Winter shows up in celebratory dress with giant red bows on pieces of chantilly and luxurious embroidered tulle.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada presents a swimwear collection replete with her original prints and her essential colouring. A real pool party on the catwalk is full of bikinis and swimsuits accompanied by unique bathrobes, completing fun and very special looks. To her well-known hearts, rainbows and clouds a new range of summery prints such as surfboards, beach balls and fruits are added.

Brand Angel Schlesser proposes a comfortable collection, filled with ample and spacious silhouettes. With summer sunrises and sea breezes in the background, the creations by Schlesser are tinged with natural tones such as sand, lavender and bougainvillea, making way for metallic colours for evening looks. Fluid fabrics contrast with guipure, jacquard and embroidery. Pajama pants and XXL jackets become the starring wager of the brand.

Femininity is the key in the proposal by Roberto Torretta. The designer, winner of the National Award for Fashion, puts on the runway a sensual and feminine collection in which fluid shapes coexist with other more innovative and adjusted in a duality that symbolizes the work in tandem with his daughter. María Torretta gives a twist to the minimal style of the family brand through knots, flounces and innovative prints that rejuvenates the Torretta woman.

Devota & Lomba presents “Wabi-Sabi”, a tribute to imperfect beauty. Elegance, simplicity, asymmetry and ingenuity are the keys to a collection manufactured from very soft fabrics like organza cotton, light wool and linen. The colours are inspired by urban facades with sand tones, lead blue and white. Ample shapes, seeking volume and lightness, are decorated with paper flowers and openwork seams reminiscent of origami.

“Kiss Me Sabine” is the title of the proposal by Juan Vidal, a collection that speaks of love and sexual revolution. All the garments by Vidal lead towards the same end: the kiss; with patterns that embrace the feminine silhouette and squirm around the body like a French kiss. Fitted dresses topped with ruffles combine with huge trench coats. The night is filled with sexy dresses in multi-coloured sequins in an ode to free and poetic love.

No pain, no gain, and the winner of Who’s on Next 2016 knows this well. Moisés Nieto puts on the runway a collection inspired by the Olympics. The designer from Jaén transformed into prints and embroidery the signage by graphic designer Otto Archer for the Games of 72 in Munich. Garments with sports apparel feel such as vintage tennis uniforms, judo jackets and bodies in true Nadia Comaneci style to manifest that sacrifice and perseverance lead to the goal.

Manémané transports us to our adolescence with layers of garments that evoke those hours in front of the mirror with the wardrobe spilled on the bed. Goth and emo cultures are the leitmotif of his proposals, presented in a variety of shapes, volumes and colours in search of an identity. Sequins, silk, denim and velvet are the starring fabrics of a collection that claims tolerance and freedom.
