Dolores Cortés presented her Spring/Summer 2027 collection, named “027” at OMODA Madrid es Moda. The collection revisits the “Pattern & Decoration” movement and its championing of ornament as an artistic language, transforming the body into a canvas for imaginary tropical landscapes and vibrant ecosystems.
In the 1970s, the Pattern & Decoration movement asserted ornament as a distinct form of artistic expression. “027” embraces this legacy, translating it into compositions where nature, color, and graphic elements are layered with sophistication to create a comprehensive decorative system.
The color palette blends deep blue, dusty pink, and exotic green, creating contrasts rich in chromatic depth. Prints incorporate tropical vegetation, palm trees, exotic wildlife, and animal motifs, paired with borders and geometric patterns that evoke the jewelry and decorative arts of the 1970s. Against this backdrop, swimwear becomes the medium for a complete artistic composition.
The print, rather than the cut, forms the backbone of “027”: the collection regards the swimsuit as a compositional canvas that is as meticulously crafted as any other garment in the line.
