The designer Josep Font, Creative Director of the brand DelPozo, has been awarded the National Fashion Design Award, a distinction conceded yearly by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports since 2009.
This award acknowledges the professional work of one of the most international Spanish designers. Josep Font began his path showcasing in different runways in Madrid, Barcelona, Tokyo and Paris. After several years presenting his prêt-à-porter collections in the French capital, the French Federation of Haute Couture invited him to participate in the Haute Couture Week for four seasons.
His expertise and talent demonstrated locally and globally made him the perfect candidate to take the helm of a mythical Spanish fashion house. After the demise of Jesus del Pozo, the Group Perfumes y Diseño acquired the company and appointed Josep Font as Creative Director. The Catalan designer is responsible for managing the atelier and the collections of DelPozo since 2012, commencing with him a new phase of brand repositioning and an ambitious global expansion plan.
Characterized by constant creative research and a meticulous artisan process, his collections for DelPozo are marketed in international department stores such as Galeries Lafayette, Barneys, Harvey Nichols and the prestigious website Net a Porter. Currently, the brand presents his creations at New York Fashion Week.
The jury highlighted "the quality, the path and the coherence of his fashion proposals, creating an oneiric universe of a recognizable imagery", values that have made him today the new winner of the highest award for Fashion Design in Spain which has distinguished in previous editions relevant names of our fashion such as Amaya Arzuaga, Pertegaz, Paco Rabanne, Elio Berhanyer and Manolo Blahnik.
