The 63rd edition of Madrid fashion week begins

19/02/2016

Davidelfín was in charge of opening a new edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. The designer from Málaga upheld national pride, displaying a collection on the runway where the scarf is the central axis becoming a part of the garments, surrounding them or even constructing them completely. Scarves become coats, skirts and dresses combine with jeans in a special edition of Levi’s customized by Davidelfín.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada fills with colour the MBFWM runway with a fashion show in which she pays personal tribute to David Bowie. Seventies styles for versatile looks designed to dress an active woman during the day. The designer commits to easiness with knitwear that adapts to the body. The poncho and the sweatshirt are star garments in the proposals for day, while night is filled with sophisticated silk with a satin shine.

Juanjo Oliva embodies with this collection a new step in his career after consolidating his merger with El Corte Ingles. The designer leaves aside his collaboration with Elogy to create his own line for the department stores. The madrileño designer takes the 70’s as a starting point inspired by icons such as Loulou de la Falaise. Cosmopolitan is the word that best defines his proposals for next winter, a collection that transports us to Mexico, Russia and the Far East through prints. Anton Heunis has been commissioned to complete the looks by Juanjo Oliva presenting, for the first time on the runway, his jewellery collection for next season.

The madrileño Golden Mile is the source inspiration for Hannibal Laguna, an area full of meaning to him having just added a new point of sale for his collection of complements in Claudio Coello. The designer presents a collection full of contrasts where tradition and innovation blend. The nostalgic glamour of Laguna is embodied by bias cut dresses that bind the waist, while the urbanite touch is set by very structured trouser suits. Lace and embroidery ornament a very architectural proposal.

Duyos presents a collection inspired by the world of wine. Blood red brocade fabrics, full-bodied, contrast with plumetti and organza leaving a velvety finish that evokes the strength of a good tinto. Rose quartz in evening suits, languid and feminine, place on the runway the softness of rosé. Duyos white wine is yellowy, with gold accents and dazzling sensual notes that are interpreted by the more daring looks of this unique wine tasting.

Elegance and comfort are the maxims of Angel Schlesser. His collection for next fall-winter is a nod to sporty fashion and homewear with robe coats, pyjama suits and lingerie dresses. Sober and feminine, the proposal by Schlesser is tinted with colours such as khaki and red, which contrast with a quiet palette of winter colours such as white, black or camel in a collection where contrasting fabrics gain full prominence.

With “Fashion Reliquary” Francis Montesinos worships the great creators of Spanish fashion. The influence of Manuel Piña may be seen in handmade knitwear in a collection that also honours the volumes and drapes of Jesus del Pozo, the Fortuny pleats, the exquisite couture of Balenciaga, the Paco Rabanne metallica and in which we see some very special Elio Berhanyer air hostesses reinterpreted by Montesinos.
