The Gran Canaria Moda Cálida program has launched its 2025/2026 training cycle with an introductory lingerie course for the island’s specialized teachers.
The training took place between September 23rd and 26th at Carmen González’s workshop in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A 16-hour course that brought together eleven teachers from the Gran Canaria School of Art and Design, as part of an initiative promoted by Gran Canaria Island’s Council and aimed at integrating fashion crafts into the academic sphere.
The workshop addressed lingerie from a technical as well as artisanal perspective, introducing typologies and specific processes that distinguish lingerie from other areas such as swimwear. The curriculum included content on pattern making, sizing and international equivalencies, materials, trimmings, threads, and machinery, all tailored to the specific needs of the participating educational centers.
The activity concluded with a practical session, which focused on cutting and sewing various lingerie pieces by applying professional assembly techniques. The course was designed as a working space that transfers acquired knowledge to the classroom and explores the potential career paths related to this specialty.
