Andrés Sardá and Juan Vidal National Fashion Awards

29/07/2015

The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism delivered their II National Fashion Awards, awards that were established due to a proposal from ACME in the Mesa de la Moda in order to recognize business excellence in fashion in Spain. The Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Sáenz de Santamaria, and the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, were in charge of presiding the awards ceremony, held at the Museo del Traje.

ACME associates Andres Sardá and Juan Vidal picked up the National Fashion Design Award in the categories of Career and New Value, respectively. The Honorary Award for Large Companies in the sector befell upon Inditex. The accessories brand Miguel Bellido won the National Award for SMEs, while tailor Lander Urquijo did so in the category of Entrepreneurship. In this second edition, the award for the Textile Industry of Reference was for Gratacós, and magazine Yo Dona received the award for Professional Communication.

Andres Sardá received a merited Award for Career. The Catalan brand, specializing in lingerie and swimwear, revolutionized the fashion industry since its foundation in 1962. Nuria Sardá, daughter of the creator, was in charge of collecting the award on behalf of her father. Since 1998 she is the Creative Director of the brand and an essential player in the current prestige of the brand worldwide.

Young designer Juan Vidal was prized with the Award to the New Value. His brief professional path, his ability to create collections of high quality produced entirely in Spain and the successful internationalization of its own signature label were the triggers for the creator Alicante to rise with this recognition, which he acknowledged not only individually but also as the visible face of the team that accompanies him since the beginning.
