Juan Avellaneda x See Iou and Guillermina Baeza join the Asociación Creadores de Moda de España

At a time when it is essential to value and support the principles of Spanish designer fashion, the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) welcomes two new signature brands, thus reaffirming its commitment of protecting and promoting Spanish fashion creation. Juan Avellaneda x See Iou and Guillermina Baeza share with the rest of the Associates the values of Spanish slow fashion, such as the safe guarding local production, quality and the revitalisation of crafts.

See Iou, a women's fashion brand founded in 2020 by Susana Bartolomé and Jorge García is based on the foundations of timeless elegance and contemporary designs. Juan Avellaneda has now joined the brand as creative director, resulting in Juan Avellaneda x See Iou. The fashion designer, from Barcelona, has the capacity of fusing innovative concepts with impeccable executions where quality becomes his hallmark. Honesty, versatility, attitude and integrity are the four words that summarise the DNA of Juan Avellaneda x See Iou and that come to life in each of his fashion proposals.

“Both the See Iou team and I are excited and grateful to have the opportunity to contribute in an environment where the passion for creativity and fashion are the driving forces. We are sure that joining ACME will be a journey that will enrich us both personally and professionally,” comments Juan Avellaneda.

As for Guillermina Baeza, she is distinguished by high-quality and innovative styles swimwear collections. Launched in the 1980s, she has since designed garments that have been created with the purpose of each woman expressing her security and uniqueness without renouncing to comfort. Her creations embrace the economy of proximity in inspiring pieces that combine elegance and tradition. Raw materials, patterns and construction reflect the highest quality standards and commitment to the planet, as shown with the incorporation of the EcoWave system, a pioneering and environmentally friendly range of fabrics. Recycled fibres from plastic bottles and fishing nets discarded in the Mediterranean Sea make tangible the ideas that are part of the brand's creative imagination. Guillermina Baeza participates in platforms such as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid, 080 Barcelona Fashion, FIMI Valencia or Gran Canaria Moda Cálida and maintains collaborations with other leading brands such as Paloma Wool, El Ganso, Pedro del Hierro or Scalpers, among others.

“Upholding quality, protecting the trades, betting on local production and making garments without an expiration date are the values we share with ACME. For this reason and because we have always believed that unity is strength, we could not be happier to belong to the Association today,” declares Belén Larruy, creative director of the fashion firm.

“For many reasons, the incorporation of these two firms to ACME is very relevant. Guillermina Baeza is one of the most important swimwear brands in our country, with a solid international presence. Additionally, Spain is recognised as a benchmark in swimwear, which makes it even more remarkable to welcome her as an Associate. On the other hand, the fact that a young company like See Iou is decisively committed to placing a creator at the center of their firm is already a declaration of intent regarding the importance of design to define the fashion brand’s identity. And doing this with the help of Avellaneda, one of the most influential and prolific creators on the Spanish fashion scene, is doubly noteworthy,” concludes Pepa Bueno, executive director of ACME.
