DUYOS CREATES THE UNIFORMS FOR THE SPANISH PAVILLION AT THE DUBAI EXPO

29/09/2021

Designer Juan Duyos signs the Spanish Pavilion staff’s uniforms at the Dubai Expo 2020 after winning the contest organized by Acción Cultural Española, the public company responsible for the presence of Spain in Universal and International Exhibitions.

The designer has developed this project with great enthusiasm after the difficult phase experienced by the designer fashion sector due to the crisis derived from COVID-19. Duyos, who has recently been awarded the L’Oréal Award for Best Collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, has been inspired by Spanish culture to create these designs. Reminiscences of the classic Manila shawl, the bullfighter’s jacket, the cape or the use of the sash symbolises the aesthetics of these uniforms.

Recycled fabrics, sustainability, purity of lines and timelessness are the basis of the looks created by Duyos, comfort being key. To complete the uniform, the designer has counted with the collaboration of Victoria, the footwear firm, which is committed to Made in Spain production, innovation and sustainability thanks to its traditional manufacturing methods, the use of recycled materials and production in proximity of more than 70% of their shoes, which are made about 50 km from their headquarters.

In the production of these uniforms, the collaboration of VERDEDEGREEN has also been fundamental. Created with the spirit of manufacturing sustainable collections locally and ethically by sisters Cristina and Isabel Gavilán, who reached this point after a 20-year journey in the traditional textile industry with the conviction and the motivation that through change, a better planet is possible.

The Dubai Expo is an event of enormous international magnitude in which more than 200 countries gather under the premises of sustainability and culture in order to become a point of exchange of knowledge and business generation.
