Juana Martín: The Flower Elevated to Art

12/03/2026

Juana Martín presented her “Herencia” collection at OMODA Madrid es Moda, a fashion proposal that revisits the presence of the flower within the flamenco world and its evolution from being an ephemeral gesture to becoming a cultural symbol. The fashion show took place at the Museum Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, where the designer situates flamenco tradition in dialogue with the history of art. The collection is conceived as a reflection regarding what disappears and what remains through culture.

The starting point is the flower as a symbol of identity. For centuries, roses, carnations, and jasmine were pinned to the hair as a spontaneous gesture linked to celebration and song. Over time, this everyday gesture has become a recognizable image of flamenco. Juana Martín addresses this transition and transforms the flower into a cultural archive, a form that is preserved in memories.

On the runway, the flower appears translated into the language of the dress. The collection explores its sculptural and ornamental dimension, transforming an ephemeral element into a visual structure. The proposal engages with flamenco tradition through the body, where gesture, symbol, and matter converge.

The flower ceases to belong to a single moment to inhabit our memory.
