The headquarters of the International University Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) in the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander hosted from the 17th to 21st August, the seminar “Spanish Fashion 360º”, a course organized by ACME under the guidance of Modesto Lomba and Pepa Bueno.

More than 40 students attended this seminar where they were able to discover the creative process of designers such as Modesto Lomba, Davidelfin, Ana Locking, Juanjo Oliva and Juan Vidal, who willingly shared with them their methods of work, inspirations and their careers in the world design.

Furthermore, the attendees of the course widened their knowledge of fashion history at the hands of journalist and historian Charo Mora and Silvia Ventosa, Curator of textiles and fashion of the Museum of Design in Barcelona, and they had an insight into the methodology and history of the specialized press with professionals of the calibre of journalist Charo Izquierdo, founder of magazines such as YoDona and Grazia; Eugenia de la Torriente, Director of Harper’s Bazaar; Pilar Riaño, founder and Director of the site regarding fashion business Modaes.es, and Alejandro Bocanegra, Editor of Flash Moda, TVE, the only show specialized in this sector in national television.

But besides being a cultural industry, fashion is business, a topic that was discussed by speakers of great relevance in the sector such as Ignacio Sierra, Corporate Director General of the Cortefiel Group and Ainhoa Garcia, former Director General of DelPozo.

Fashion is also communication and marketing, a vision contributed by professionals such as, Maria Eugenia Girón, Executive Director of the Observatory of the Premium and Prestige Market in IE Business School, and Fernando Aguileta de la Garza, Co-Director of the Master in Fashion Management of Bau. Concerning the new formulas of communication in fashion debated José Murciano, Director of Madrid Fashion Film Festival, and Elena Giménez, Director of Communications of Juan Vidal.
