Second day at the 64th edition of MBFWM

18/09/2016

Kinetic art and Op-Art are the protagonists of the proposal by Dolores Cortés, who enjoyed in her fashion show the exclusive participation of top Ana Beatriz Barros. The Valencian designer proposes swimwear in architectural shapes, 3D effects and geometric prints. The aesthetics of movement is a constant in her creations, playing with chromatic contrasts, lights and shadows.

Úlises Mérida sets personality above trends. “Luz” as the proposal by the designer from La Mancha is entitled, shows up blindingly on the runway through light fabrics such as chiffon, linen or silk, which start off from white going through mariner blue and sand tones. The creator pays homage to the film “Death in Venice”, the work of Sorolla and a woman who strips away all rigidity to dress in light summer coats, caftans and the essential white shirts.

Francis Montesinos remixed elements of Mediterranean culture in his collection for next spring / summer. Flamenco, fallero, folkrore of his native Valencia, and Hellenic culture come together in his creations for men and women. Tradition and craftsmanship are the leitmotif of a proposal full of flowers, light and colour, which once again highlights the uniqueness of the Montesinos universe.

Juanjo Oliva returns to his roots with this collection. A review of his beginnings as a fashion designer and the essence of his work are embodied in a proposal of detailed couture. Juanjo Oliva plays with contrasts and extremes, mixing delicate chiffon dresses and Liberty prints with elements such as tacks, ponchos and sweatshirts, resulting in rebellious looks that glance towards the future of his signature label.

Ana Locking showcases “The Thinker”, a collection fleeing from perfect and classic beauty in search of a particular harmony in the imperfect and even the defective. Broken and torn are the protagonists of her first models. From chaos to fabric reconstruction her creations evolve into flounces with a lot of movement, floral prints, rustic lace, metallics, tye-dye … A chaotic process that is ordered in sophisticated evening gowns with embroidery and pearls.

“+ 34”, the phone code that has distinguished Spain for 50 years, is the title of the collection by Hannibal Laguna. A proposal full of nostalgia for what has already been lived with a clear Spanish inspiration in capote skirts, mantillas and ornaments. Special attention is given to handbags and shoes by the designer from Alicante who also shows, for the first time on the runway, his own line of jewellery.

Botany, understood in its metaphorical way, inspires the proposal for next spring / summer by Duyos. Stylized silhouettes reminiscent of flower stems, petal applications and a soft palette seek beauty in nature. Whimsical shapes and spontaneous harmonies reflect the naturalness and delicacy of the work of the creator from Madrid.

Ion Fiz transports us to a yacht at high sea. Designs for men and women by the Basque creator are tinted in sand white, sky blue, indigo, black, silver and gold in an ode to holidays and leisure time. Without losing the essence that defines him, and that unites him from the beginning to haute couture and the more traditional tailoring, Ion Fiz takes a turn with this collection, which includes very sporty garments in a clear commitment to be renewed.
