Mallorca Design Day

28/05/2019

The Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España collaborates with the celebration of the II edition of Mallorca Design Day, celebrated this weekend in Port Portals.

More than 600 guests attended this event that has brought together on the island numerous personalities from the fashion world. This competition, which aims to enhance and give visibility to the work of new designers in the Balearic area, is aimed at people of any nationality who are studying or who have completed Fashion Design studies, and it is also open to people who are linked to the design and apparel world in an amateur manner.

Modesto Lomba presided over the jury of this second edition, which also included designers Daniel Rabaneda, María Lafuente, Moisés Nieto, and ACME’s Executive Director Pepa Bueno, among others. A total of 121 collections have been exhibited this year at Mallorca’s Design Day, quadrupling the number of proposals that were submitted in the competition’s previous edition, held in 2017. The winner of the Balearic category was designer Marisa del Hoyo; Nicolás Sánchez from Argentina, of the international category; madrileño David de Calle, of the national category, and Carla García Parrondo, of the curvy category.

The finale to this event, presented by Tania Llasera, has been the Devota & Lomba fashion show, in which the signature label has presented a selection of its latest creations, designed to shine in Puerto Portals. The fashion show also featured the participation of models Malena Costa and Madelaine Hjort.
